Psychology and Relationships - How Are Men and Women Different?
A relationship of any kind is always going to have conflict. That is just inevitable. The important thing is how the conflict is handled. Some people like to sweep the issues under the rug and act as if they never existed. Those situations usually tend to build up until a blow out happens. A study by the National Institute of Mental Health had some very revealing information. They found that couples that had been together for a short period of time (particularly those between the ages of 18 to 21) were much less intimate ( a little surprising?) and being dependent on the other person in their relationship. They were extremely sensitive to being rejected or abandoned. Obviously, everyone in the study didn't necessarily fall into those generalizations. The interesting thing is that it was much easier to physically see the anxiety in men than women.
